Mix Fix Recover Review: Hangover Cure We've Been Waiting On?

MixFix Recover Review

My MixFix Recover review comes after turning 29 this past month and finally realizing two things I've experienced more and more since I was about 24...

1) Hangovers are fucking god awful.
2) I'm the least productive human on earth after a night out

I couldn't stand for this any longer.

So, armed with my new box of 8 MixFix Recover packs and my "newfound" knowledge that hangovers feel bad, I dove into a little experiment.

(UPDATE: MixFix now comes in capsule form and I personally think it's better this way as there is now not any mixing to be done, just pop a few capsules in your pocket before heading out.)

Recommended use of MixFix is basically to mix the pack with water and drink it IMMEDIATELY after your last drink...

Now that's technically best case scenerio and yields the best results, you can drink it just before bed but who doesn't want the best results when it comes to hangover prevention?

And that's actually a huge reason I chose the MixFix packs that I can take anywhere and dose it quickly, rather than waiting to get home to premade drinks that have less of the ingredients I really care about.

Anyway, over the next few weeks, I put these portable packs to work, and boy did they do their job for the drinking I put in...

Now, my biggest hangover gripe has always been the terrible nasea that comes after a night of moderate drinking.

Usually such quesy, gurgling, uneasy and upset stomach problems last the entire next day...

And this is something I've looked into a lot but have NEVER been able to get my hands on an sort of actualy remedy that does any good.

But those little packs knocked my recurring nausea right out. Specifically, I haven't experienced nausea in any way the morning after when I took MixFix Recover as intended.

Headaches, gone.
Bodyaches, ditto.

The only thing not completely destroyed with these little packs was fatigue. And even that I can't fault these packs with because I can't get out of my damn weekday wake schedule on weekends, getting up WAY to early for when I got into bed.

In my opinion the only real drawback is that my box of 8 packs went wayy to quickly because I had a friends wedding within my testing period.

I'm sure most people could get by with one box a month but not me...

Now - even when I have a just few drinks out - I get to thinking, "Am I going to be 100% tomorrow?" And then I end up taking MixFix anyway to err on the side of caution.

I mean, one pack is less than a fucking beer so now I feel dumb even thinking I might not take it with me when I go out.

It's kind of addicting in that way... being like "I needs it!" everytime I'm about to drink and remind myself of my last awful, throwing up half the day kind of hangover I had.

For all these reasons I can't recommend MixFix Recover enough and I plan on being a customer for all the rest of my drinking days.

I don't get any kickback from MixFix Recover - but if you're reading this review I'd be open to testing any new flavors you come up with ;)

Adaptogen Herbs That Work!

Life's Stress Effects

It’s likely that you’ve heard about the detrimental effects of the stress hormone cortisol. Elevated cortisol levels and chronic stress can affect every physiological system in your body, including your thyroid and adrenal glands.

It can make you anxious and irritable, lead to weight gain and bone loss, contribute to diabetes and heart disease risk, and deplete your energy levels.

Cortisol is also known as the aging hormone.

When cortisol gets too high, it puts you into a “fight or flight” response, which stimulates your sympathetic nervous system and your adrenal glands.

When this occurs, there is a decrease in your digestive secretions and an increase in blood pressure. This puts your body in a state of constant stress, which will burn out your adrenal glands, stress your digestive tract and cause you to age more rapidly.

So if you want to look younger, feel younger and be healthy — and heal adrenal fatigue — you must get your cortisol levels balanced.

Side effects of chronically elevated cortisol can include:

Anxiety
Autoimmune diseases
Cancer
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Common Colds
Hormone imbalance
Irritable bowel disease
Thyroid conditions
Weight loss resistance
So what can help us adapt to stress and lower cortisol? Adaptogens …

What Are Adaptogens?

Phytotherapy refers to the use of plants for their healing abilities. Adaptogens are a unique class of healing plants: They help balance, restore and protect the body.

As naturopath Edward Wallace explains, an adaptogen doesn’t have a specific action: It helps you respond to any influence or stressor, normalizing your physiological functions.

Naturopath Marcelle Pick of Women to Women reports that adaptogenic herbs can recharge your adrenal glands, helping you to respond to stress.

Adaptogens include ashwaganda, astragalus, ginseng, licorice root, holy basil, some mushrooms and rhodiola. According to Jan Whiticomb, there are 16 proven adaptogenic herbs.

Top 7 Adaptogen Herbs

1. Ginseng

Benefit-rich ginseng is the most well-known adaptogen, and Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng) is considered the most potent. According to Wallace, research has validated Asian ginseng’s use for improving mental performance and your ability to withstand stress. This red ginseng also has antioxidant effects, antidepressant effects, and can help naturally lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

There are a number of adaptogens referred to as ginsengs that aren’t technically ginsengs, but keep in mind that they have similar composition or effects.

2. Ursolodine

An ultra-potent blend of ursolic acid and tomatidine, studies suggest that this synergistic blend fights your fatigue and stress; boosts your immune system; and regulates blood sugar, blood pressure and hormone levels.

3. Ashwaganda

Ashwaganda is often referred to as Indian ginseng. Often used in Ayurvedic medicine, ashwaganda regulates the immune system and eases anxiety. Ashwaganda has been used in Eastern medicine for over 2,500 years and has immuno-modulating effects that boost your immune system and aid the body in lowering cortisol levels.

4. Astragalus root

Used in Chinese medicine, astragalus boosts immunity and buffers the effects of stress. It increases the amount of anti-stress compounds our bodies use to repair and prevent stress-related damage. It may also reduce the ability of stress hormones like cortisol to bind to receptors.

5. Licorice root

Licorice root can increase energy and endurance, boost the immune system, and protect the thymus from being damaged by cortisol, but its use requires professional supervision because of how it may affect blood pressure.

6. Rhodiola

Rhodiola (rhodiola rosea), or golden root, is a potent adaptogen that has been the focus of much research. Rhodiola provides a buffer to stress-related mental and physical fatigue. According to Whiticomb, Rhodiola was used by Russian cosmonauts, athletes and military personnel, and years of study have begun to uncover the very mechanisms by which it acts as an adaptogen.

Rhodiola rosea contains a phytochemical known as salisdroside. This component helps relieve anxiety and combat aging. Rhodiola suppresses the production of cortisol and increases levels of stress-resistant proteins.

Studies have found that it restores normal patterns of eating and sleeping after stress; lowers mental and physical fatigue; and protects against oxidative stress, heat stress, radiation and exposure to toxic chemicals. Rhodiola also protects the heart and liver, increases use of oxygen, improves memory, and may even extend longevity. Also, new research proves it’s effective as a weight loss agent.

7. Cordycep mushrooms

Cordyceps, reishi, shiitake and maitake mushrooms are funguses with antioxidant properties. That means nutrition-rich mushrooms have all the benefits of antioxidant foods. They may not be adaptogens in the classic sense, but each has adaptogenic, anti-tumor and immune-enhancing properties.
Final Thoughts
Eating well, getting proper rest, staying active, writing down what you’re grateful for and maintaining social connection all help protect you from chronic stress, which can kill your quality of life.

High cortisol levels and chronic stress can affect every physiological and psychological system.

Adding adaptogens to your routine can make you even more resilient to the damaging effects of high cortisol levels. Adaptogens balance and restore the body.

You can increase your capacity to deal with stress and improve your mental and physical performance with the use of adaptogens.

Ursolodine Review: Does Ursolodine Really Work?

Ursolic acid and tomatidine supplementation has shown huge potential.

For dropping pounds of fat while keeping or growing lean muscle mass - many have sought out Ursolodine to do the job.

Big names like Joe Rogan, Dave Asprey and Tim Ferriss have pushed the surge in use of Ursolodine, touting adaptogenic compounds as the future of performance enhancement.

I first heard about the power of ursolic acid and tomatidine supplementation on the Joe Rogan Podcast with guest Dr. Rhonda Patrick.

Looking further into the research, I found study after study showing how powerful ursolic acid and tomatidine can be - with ScienceDaily calling tomatidine “the answer to bigger, stronger muscles.”

And researcher Christopher Adams, MD, PhD even citing the compounds as potent tools in combating the “muscle weakness and loss [that] are big problems as we become older.”

The World’s Most Famous Performance-Enhancement Chemist (according to Tim Ferriss, at least) described how a database of 1,300 naturally occurring chemicals helped turn researchers onto tomatidine and ursolic acid due to their remarkable anabolic abilities...
“Turning on” genes tied to muscle growth and fat loss, “turning off” genes linked to catabolic processes, and increasing levels of important growth hormones known to significantly boost performance.

I was just coming off a 12 week bulk at the end of June so I started my Ursolodine regimine immediately as I started cutting.

Initial Thoughts

Ursolodine is the first tomatidine supplement available in the US and comes in a synergistic blend with ursolic acid.

I got 12 weeks worth (240 pills) and they arrived 3 days later.

My first time ordering they were out of stock by the time I decided to pull the trigger...

I tried ordering again the next month and got in (but the price had gone up slightly).

The pills came in eco-friendly heat-sealed pouches instead of bottles which is fine by me.

Shipping was free and I’m all for sustainability so that's a plus.

3 pills a day, easy to swallow - no big deal here.

Feeling ON

Almost immediately, I began to feel the “higher levels of available energy from fat” in kind of a freaky way.

I’d been on 4 days of no carbs on my cutting diet and usually don’t feel even 50% of my optimal self in the gym or even just thinking.

But after the first full day on Ursolodine I felt energy like I’d been carb-loading for a competition.

It was undeniable and my muscles even looked tighter than usual, carbs or not.

From then on my workouts came easy - only 30 minute sessions and I always felt like I could go further with it but knew I didn’t really need to.

By week 4 I felt like a monster.

I had cut 7 pounds and didn’t think I had lost an ounce of muscle. I was super lean and my abs were finally starting to really show again.

I continued on with full body workouts 3 times a week and the fat loss kept getting better and better.

On week 9 I had a “no-flexing” 6 pack and was destroying my workouts - I’ve seriously fallen in love with this stuff by this point.

Ultimate Results

Onto week 12 now as I write this article and all I can say is “Holy Shit.”

I really wish I’d started with Ursolodine earlier to get to the level of leanness I’m at now but better late than never.

I’ve cut 19 pounds in this time and couldn’t be happier with the results.

I don’t feel like I lost ANY muscle during this cut and it seriously looks like I’ve even gained some.

I’d recommend Ursolodine to guys looking to pack on muscle and drop some fat.

I'll be running Ursolodine for the rest of the year. It's earned it's place in my regular supplement stack and you should definitely check it out when it's available.
